Fortunately, coconut has a lower melting temperature than butter, so when you leave your coconut oil out on a warm day, it can easily turn into liquid. 

How Do I Cook with Coconut Oil?

Generally, you can use coconut oil anywhere you’d use butter, like cooking eggs, spreading it on toast, and frying veggies. The great thing about this is that coconut oil and butter have a similar low smoke point, which is around 350F. 

If you’re used to cooking with butter, know that coconut oil will essentially cook the same way. You should note, however, that coconut oil won’t foam in the pan, unlike butter, since it doesn’t have much moisture to work with. 

 

So a great way to gauge if the oil is hot enough is by splashing a bit of water and see if it’ll sizzle. But be careful though, you don’t want the hot coconut oil to splatter on your surface, or worse, your arm!
